Any adult aged 16 or over can change their name, by executing a Change of Name Deed. This is a legal document which is sworn to state that the person shall be renouncing their former name and be known as their new name from the date of the Deed.
A Change of Name Deed is recognised by authorities and therefore all your legal documents can be changed to your new name, such as drivers licence, passports, bank accounts etc.
If you would like to change your child's name then the consent of the other parent may need to be sought if they are under 16 years of age. Please contact us to find out whether this would be necessary in your circumstances.
